Martin’s-ville: Truex Leads Happy Hour at the Paperclip

Martin Truex Jr. led final practice for the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway. He was followed by Brad Keselowski and Daniel Suarez. Truex also led the first practice on Saturday morning. All 38 drivers entered ran a lap, and the session was stopped once because of an incident.

Most drivers made race runs, taking into account the possibility of qualifying being cancelled due to possible rain and snow Saturday afternoon and night.

With 33 minutes remaining in the session, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wheelhopped entering turn three, sending him sideways and into the outside wall with the rear of the car. He’ll go to a backup car for tomorrow’s race.

Qualifying for the STP 500 will be at 5 PM eastern Saturday evening, weather permitting. The STP 500 will take place at 2 PM eastern on Sunday.
