Christopher Bell won Friday night’s Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway despite starting last after a spin in qualifying. This was Bell’s second win of the season and third of his career.
The first half of the race seemed to suggest it would be an all too familiar Kyle Busch dominate win. Busch took the lead from polesitter Cole Custer on lap 15 and secured the first stage easily. Stage 2 was much of the same until Busch’s lead was quickly cut down by John Hunter Nemecheck with 10 to go. He would win the stage.
Busch regained the lead in the pits and continued to stay outfront through a rash of cautions in the first half of the final stage. Busch’s handling slowly faded though and he was passed ny Daniel Hemric with 57 laps to go. Elliott Sadler brought out the caution three laps later. Restarting with 49 to go Hemric couldn’t hold off Justin Allgaier who took his first lead of the night.
The final restart came with 34 laps remaining and Allgaier jumped ahead. Bell slowly cut into his lead before passing him with 16 laps to go. Hemric made a late run at Bell but was unsuccessful.
