Busch Dominates 600

Kyle Busch won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday. Busch turned in a dominate performance lead 377 of the race’s 400 laps en route to his 47th career victory. He also becomes the first driver in NASCAR history to win on every track he’s ever competed on.

Busch brought the field to the green flag at the start of the 600-mile marathon. Outside pole sitter Joey Logano immediately snatched the lead and stayed out-front for the first five laps. Busch would pass him back and set sail. The race’s first caution flew on lap 37 when Austin Dillon hit the wall and cut a tire a lap later. Busch pulled away on the next restart. Pre-race favorite Kevin Harvick cut a tire and smacked the wall with 17 remaining. Brad Keselowski would win the race off pit road but only because he missed his pit. Despite having no tires, he elected to keep the lead on the restart with 12 to go in the stage. The 2 car immediately dropped like a rock and Busch would win the stage

14 laps into stage 2 William Byron smacked the wall to bring out the caution. On the restart six laps later Denny Hamlin would bump Jimmie Johnson in turn 3, Logano would also spin trying to avoid the 48. Busch again claim the stage victory

Stage 3 was caution ridden as Gray Gaulding, Chris Buescher, and Kyle Larson all went for solo spins throughout the 100 laps. Ryan Blaney blew his motor with 22 laps to go. Busch would win stage 3 as well.

The final stage went caution free. Busch made his final stop with 48 to go and would proceed to lap all the way up to the ninth-place car.
